
The main function of the Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory (CDL) of the Health Establishment “Minsk Regional Dermatovenerological Dispensary” is to conduct clinical laboratory investigations aimed at making a diagnosis and to check the effectiveness of the administered therapy. The main types of investigations include diagnosing sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), such as gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, gardnerella, yeast fungi; as well as dermatomycosis, scabies and demodex. CDL provides a continuous process of examining patients with timely results of investigations ensuring high quality and accuracy. CDL is well equipped with up-to-date devices (microscopes, centrifuge, analysers). Paid services are also available.
The following investigations are performed at the Laboratory:
General clinical investigations:
- detection of gonococci, trichonomas, gardnerellas and yeast fungi in genitourinary discharge by methylene blue- and Gram-stained smears;
- investigation of the skin, nails and hair for dermatophytes;
- detection of an itch-mite in skin scrapings;
- investigation of the skin and eye-lids for demodex;
- urinalysis.
Hematologic investigations:
- complete blood count (leukocytes, hemoglobin, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, differential blood count);
Biochemical investigations:
- determination of total protein, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, glucose, total bilirubin and its fractions, blood lipid profile, AST and ALT.
Other investigations:
- determination of allergic reactions to medical preparations by leukocyte agglomeration reaction;
- quantitative determination of Ig-E-specific antibodies using the immunoblot analysis (to detect food and inhalation allergy);
- detection of acantholytic cells in smears.
